Meet Naomi

My life took a sharp turn in 2008 when a snowboarding accident left me facing recovery from a fractured spine. It was a brutal wake-up call, forcing me to confront my own healing and redefine my future.

Traditional therapy provided a vital foundation. Yoga and mindfulness truly ignited my transformation. These ancient practices became a powerful tool, forging a deep mind-body connection that not only eased my physical pain but also opened my eyes to a holistic approach to well-being.

Meet Naomi

My transformative journey began in 2008 after a life-altering snowboarding injury left me hospitalized with a fractured spine. This pivotal moment forced me to recalibrate everything and lear to a intense path of self-discovery. Alongside traditional therapy, I discovered the profound benefits of yoga and mindfulness. This ancient practice deepened my mind-body connection and expedited my healing process, ultimately transforming my perspective on healing and self-growth

Fueled by this transformative experience, I pursued a Master’s in Counseling Psychology to delve into Western healing methods. Yet, my yearning for a more holistic approach led me on a fascinating journey to Asia, where I immersed myself in Eastern healing traditions and their emphasis on the interconnectedness of mind and body.

Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to honing my skills with 500+ hours of somatic and yoga certifications. I’m also trained in EMDR, a powerful evidence-based therapy for healing from trauma.

Today, I stand before you, armed with this wealth of knowledge and real-life experience, eager to empower individuals like you on your own journeys of healing and growth.

I offer a safe and supportive space where you can be yourself, explore your desires and needs without judgment, and embark on a path of self-discovery. We’ll work together to navigate the ups and downs of life and relationships, one conversation at a time.

Ready to find your perfect fit?

Let’s connect and see if we can embark on this journey together.

Please note that I can only see clients virtually in California.

Frequently Asked Questions

Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between the mind and body to address and heal emotional and psychological trauma. This approach recognizes that trauma can become stored in the body, leading to physical and emotional symptoms.

Somatic therapy can help you become more aware of bodily sensations, tensions, and physical responses that may be associated with past traumatic experiences. By gently exploring and releasing these physical sensations and patterns, you can work through unresolved trauma, reduce distressing symptoms, and achieve emotional healing and resilience.

Somatic therapy techniques can include various body-centered practices, such as breathwork, movement, guided imagery, and mindfulness exercises. The goal is to help you regain a sense of safety, release pent-up tension, and promote self-regulation of their nervous system, ultimately supporting their overall mental and emotional well-being.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a specialized evidence-based form of psychotherapy that is primarily used to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, and certain psychological conditions.

The core premise of EMDR therapy is that traumatic experiences can get “stuck” in the brain, causing distressing symptoms and emotional suffering. EMDR aims to help individuals reprocess these traumatic memories, making them less distressing and more integrated into their overall life narrative.

Confidentiality is the bedrock of the relationship between a client and therapist. Successful therapy requires a safe environment for you to feel comfortable opening up in order to address the underlying issues you are facing. Anything discussed during our session is not shared with anyone outside what is outlined in my Informed Consent, which all clients are required to agree to and sign before starting therapy. There may be times when you want me to share information with someone else, such as your physician. I can only share information with others with your consent, which requires you to sign a release of information.

State law and professional ethics require me to maintain confidentiality about what we discuss, except in a few specific instances:
If there is any suspected abuse or neglect of children, elders, or dependent adults, which may require a report to the appropriate protective services agency and/or law enforcement.
If you are in immediate danger of seriously harming yourself or someone else.

Yes! Online therapy (referred to as “teletherapy”) has been heavily researched and studies show that it is just as effective as in-person therapy. We still get to see each other and personally connect; just over video. There are also unique benefits to online therapy, many of which my clients have told me they appreciate, such as not having to deal with traffic or parking, not having additional commute time, more flexibility with scheduling, and being able to have sessions wherever is most convenient for them.

If you are wondering whether online therapy is a good fit for you, let’s schedule a free 15-minute consultation and you can decide for yourself. Many people are pleasantly surprised at how much they prefer it to in-person therapy.

Unfortunately, no. I can only work with clients that physically reside in California.

Couple therapy is $175 for 50-minute sessions

Naomi offers  limited sliding scale spots available. Inquire for more info.

Payment may be made by credit or debit card payment, which is due at or before the time of our session. Typically, credit or debit card payment is set up via IVY PAY, a credit/debit card payment service specifically designed for licensed mental health therapists which is HIPAA compliant. IVY PAY is a convenient payment option which securely records a debit/credit card and allows for automatic payment prior to our sessions. Aka, payment is super easy

As an associate counselor working under supervision, I am not able to take insurance or provide a super bill for reimbursement until I am fully licensed.

I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), which means that I completed my formal education and received my master’s degree in professional counseling and am in the process of gaining the necessary clinical experience and supervision required to become a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC).

All APCCs must accrue 3,000 hours of supervised post-degree professional experience in order to qualify for licensure.

I am supervised by Lauren Consul, an incredibly experienced therapist that specializes in sex and relationship therapy. Lauren is a licensed marraige and family therapist in California (LMFT87205).

Working with an associate essentially means that you get support from not one, but two, great therapists; directly from me and indirectly from Lauren Consul via my supervision with her. I am also able to offer a reduced rate from Lauren’s full fee.

You can verify my associate registration here, by entering my full name “Naomi Zelin” or my registration number “13415”.

I accept a very limited number of sliding scale clients (also referred to as “reduced fee”) on my caseload at any given time. I offer sliding scale payments for clients with a demonstrable financial need to make therapy more affordable by offering a reduced rate. If you would like to begin therapy with me, but the cost of my regular fees is a barrier, please contact me to see if I have an opening for sliding scale. If no spaces are available, I am happy to place you on a waitlist for when the spot does become available or I can provide you referrals to other therapists that may offer a reduced rate.

Once you book a session time, I reserve that time specifically for you. I require at least 24-hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24-hours notice, you will still be responsible and charged for the full session fee.

Your session time is dedicated and reserved for you. If you are late for a session you may join it at any time within your designated time period, but our session will still end at the scheduled time and you will still be responsible for the entirety of the regular session fee.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.
  • You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.
